Projects '67 Nova Pro Street Rod Owner- Ron Gray Ron bought this Nova 2 years ago when it was just a shell, no motor, no trans, no interior, no nothing! The body was in good shape, no rust & no dents. Ron wanted a Pro Street version of the '67 Nova which included a back half with a FAB9 rear end housing, 31/16.5 tires with a 4 link coil over suspension. The front included a Chris Alston Chassisworks frame, rack & pinion steering and coil over shocks. Ron wanted a big motor so we built a 460" Big Block Chevy with Edelbrock aluminum cylinder heads. hydraulic roller cam, an 871 Blower with a BDS fuel injection system. The trans is a race built Turbo 400 with a manual shift valve body. This combination proved to be very good for the street as well as making lots of power!! We painted the car a 2 tone silver & purple with silver leaf dividing the 2 colors. The silver leafing was done by Bob Coslett & gives a great finishing touch. B & N is proud of this beautiful paint job which has won several car show awards. The interior is gray leather look with a custom console fabricated by Brad. The bucket seats are out of a late model Mazda with 5 point seat belts. We constructed an 8 point roll cage painted silver. Finishing off the interior is gray carpet with a Chevy bow tie insignia in the back between the 2 wheel tubs. The interior was done by Ray Miller Interior. This car was a test car to see how much time it would take to do a complete ground up restoration including paint & body drive line. We completed the car in 4 months. Believe me this was not easy!! A little tip - the BDS fuel injection system is very difficult to work with because all tunes & adjustments must be done by computer & BDS has to be involved. We were lucky to have a computer guru in the family & asked for the help of son & brother, Dean Chafee who was a great help in tuning the motor. This car is perfect in every way & we are proud to say it was done by Norm & Brad at B & N Custom Rods. |
